"Most people want to help...

most people want to do good...they just don't know how. Faith in Action gives them a chance to do simple things that make a big difference."

Faith In Action CANHelp is a local faith-based initiative sponsored by CANHelp (Community Action Network). As with all Faith In Action programs, Faith in Action CANHelp is designed to assist the frailest individuals in our community to maintain their independence and effectively continue to live in their own homes.  Combined with our 2-1-1 Texas helpline, individuals needing help or those seeking to help others can simply dial 2-1-1 and be linked with community services and Faith In Action CANHelp volunteers.

The primary goal of the local program is to identify individuals who are unable to access other programs and services and who are truly falling through the gaps in our community support system.

Faith in Action volunteers help those who have long-term health or other special needs to maintain independence for as long as possible by providing non-medical assistance with task such as:

bullet

picking up a few groceries

bullet

running errands

bullet

providing a ride to the doctor

bullet

friendly visiting (talking and listening)

bullet

reading or helping to pay bills

With this volunteer assistance, members of the community who have long-term or special health needs can maintain their independence for as long as possible.
